Gold Coast Marquee Weddings

There aren’t many spots on the Gold Coast that you can have a marquee wedding, unless you want to travel to a remote location on a farm, or if you are lucky enough to have family with a huge sprawling lawn.

When used in conjunction with our range of mis-matched napkins and plates, these small details add personality to your table setting.

Burlesque Birthday Bash

Today we re looking back to a fabulous Burlesque party we styled for a 30th birthday last year. So much fun!

We transformed the function room of this hotel using tall feather centrepieces and dramatic red lighting. Entertainment included Jasmine Meakin and her babes from Mega Jam, and the amazing Medusa act from Aerial Angels Entertainment.

Guests that were lucky enough to receive an invite dressed to suit the theme and were wined and dined in style, dancing the night away to only the best burlesque tracks. This fab party even featured one of our amazing lolly buffet’s, with jars decorated in lacy red and black garters.

We can’t wait for the opportunity to do it all again soon.

Black & White Wedding of Chrissy & Lachie

On the 1st June we styled a beautiful wedding at Cedar Creek Winery on Mt Tamborine.

The bride opted for a sophisticated colour scheme of chic black and white and our styling included plain and damask prints. Black & white Tiffany chairs surrounded the tables with our luxury glass candelabras making a gorgeous centrepiece. Diamante napkin bands and mirrored table numbers added glamour to the settings, and pretty lace details brought the elegance.

We also added a vintage cigar bar which was a special treat for the groom and his men.

We just loved the way the styling contrasted with the warm rustic surroundings of the winery, don’t you?

Bohemian Lace – Styled Shoot

A few weeks ago we had the absolute pleasure of coordinating a styled shoot at the amazing Lillydale Farm.

Lillydale is a few hours drive from the Gold Coast, nestled in quietly at the foot of Mt Barney. It is a real working farm with chickens, horses, cows, ducks, deer and so many more gorgeous creatures. Getting off track a little bit, this is also a farm stay and I can HIGHLY recommend it. We can’t wait to get back there!

But anyway….back to the shoot….

The venue has recently opened to cater to marquee weddings and enlisted our help to promote them. Tough gig!

We spent one glorious day shooting our gorgeous model around the property. We also took the opportunity to bring to life one of the many styling concepts we have dreaming up Bohemain Lace. We are known for our glamourous weddings and this was a chance to show how versatile we can be and jump on board with the Bohemian wedding trend that is sweeping our shores. What fun it was! Brass vases overflowed with fluffy pink peonies and lisianthus. Our brand new doiley table runners added vintage charm and matched our antique linen napkins and cutlery. We delicately scribbled onto dead leaves to create place cards and positioned them next to mis-matched vintage plates.

To add our signature whimsical twist, all of this beauty was framed by our spectacular fairy light frame with hanging glass vases filled with glittering candles.

Jessica & Doug’s Dusty Pink & Gold Wedding

This STUNNING wedding was crafted for an equally gorgeous bride and groom. Held in a private home in beautiful Byron Bay, this elegant marque wedding was a joy to work on.

With a colour palette of dusty pink, ivory and gold, the tables were lavishly decorated with hundreds and hundreds of candles, fresh floral arrangements, gold charger plates and linen napkins. The centrepiece of the room was an extravagant suspended floral chandelier from the talented ladies at Stem Design in Brisbane.

If the room wasn’t pretty enough, the bride also commissioned our services to create a vintage inspired lolly buffet in soft pastel colours and lots of pretty hand-made details. Our lolly jars were wrapped in ribbon and lace and antique books were covered in fabric to match the reception and made into exquisite lolly jar labels.

For the gents, we lovingly prepared a cigar and whisky room complete with old world chesterfield lounges, fresh flowers, candles and some lovey dovey signs.

This wedding was a treat for the senses with no detail left unattended to.

Penthouse Wedding Party – Gina & Joe

We can’t wait to share this fabulous wedding with you!

Held in the sublime penthouse of the iconic Soul building in Surfers Paradise, this was an intimate and sophisticated affair. With panoramic views of the ocean and a tastefully decorated black and white interior, the penthouse was a beautiful space to work in.

Huge white floral orb centrepieces care of our friends at White Ivy Design towered above the tables and were adorned with twisted silver branches and dripping crystal drops.

Silver satin napkins were wrapped with glittering diamante bands and placed on black beaded charger plates. We then flooded the room with dramatic blue & purple lighting and crowded the table with pillar candles. (All available to hire here)

The amazing cake from Yener’s Cakes featured two skeleton cake toppers and boasted a sugar scroll with the words “Til Death Do Us Part”.

It was a lavish and modern affair that we loved every minute of it!

White Wedding Styled Shoot

This theme was inspired by the classic white wedding, but with the Sugar and Spice signature theatrical edge. With the crisp, clean lines of white linen and gorgeous crystal, this look was designed to conjure feelings of minimalist elegance, and sophistication.

Splashes of silver and bling coupled with our contemporary Louis Ghost chairs gave the look a modern edge that was set off by a dramatic aerialist performing gracefully over the table.

Enchanted Garden Wedding Shoot

Since I was a child, I have dreamt about fairies who live at the bottom of the garden. In high school, whilst studying Shakespeare I discovered ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and I was hooked. No matter what the occasion, I look for an excuse to have a party in the garden. So it was only fitting that one of the themes I would love to bring to life was the Enchanted Garden look.

The aim of this design was to capture the whimsy and romance of the make-believe. The crisp night air embellished with the warm glow of twinkling candlelight; elaborate, wild flower-inspired centrepieces and a wedding banquet table that appears to ‘grow’ out of the earth itself.

A natural colour palette of sage green and brown with soft pastel, unstructured florals were used to achieve this wedding theme.
