Basement Burlesque Soiree

Posted on: January 25th, 2012 by n3tB1z No Comments

A few months ago I was commisioned to help plan and style a 30th birthday party with a Burlesque theme. How exciting! This is truly a chance to put my theatrical flair into practice and deliver a seamless soiree experience with stunning theming and incredible entertainment.

The birthday girl listened to my ideas and took my advice which was so refreshing and the results spoke for themselves.

We decided on a red & black palette and at the last minute added some purple and white so it didn’t look too gothic. We turned the basement function room of a local tavern into a lush, dimly lit boudoir, exploding with feathers, deep red lighting and cosy, theatrical nooks for guests to enjoy. Cocktail tables were decked in black velvet with alternating red & purple runners with diamante buckles. Feather centrepeices towered above guests heads and the room glittered with the glow of votive and scented candles.

A sumptuous lolly buffet was set with lace-decorated noodle boxes for guests to fill. In keeping with the theme, each lolly jar was decorated with a red & black garter and crystals were scattered across the table.

All guests were instructed to dress to impress and NO-ONE made a token effort. The lavish costumes of every party-goer filled the floor with corsets, tulle, feathers & finery.

A theme such as this is of course nothing without spectacular entertainment. Working closely with Aerial Angels we utlised promotional models and a roving ballerina….with a live snake. All guests were greeted on arrival by our host and hostess and given a feather boa to get them in the mood. The models later roved the room and posed for photos with excited guests. They also handed out glasses of pink champagne, embellished with floating red hibiscus flowers.

Medusa was a huge hit, a ballerina seductively roaming the room, all the while performing on red pointe shoes.

The Megajam dancers treated guests to a visual dance feast to tracks from the Burlesque album as well as classics such as Cell Block Tango and All That Jazz.

The corset cake was cut, and the whole venue danced the night away to live music by Jade Louise.

Why use a Wedding Planner?

Posted on: January 19th, 2012 by n3tB1z 3 Comments

This isn’t mine, but I couldn’t have said it better so I’ve borrowed it! It’s definitely worth reading if you are planning on getting married….enjoy!

A wedding can be an incredibly scary undertaking, especially when you’re not sure where to start.
Weddings are among the most beautiful, yet most stressful events we have to look forward to in our lives. So why not invite a professional to lend a hand? There are a plethora of things in our daily lives that we need help with. A wedding should be no exception.

It can be scary to put your special moment into someone else’s hands, but with a little research, I think you will agree that going it alone is a far scarier prospect.

Time
Planning a wedding takes an incredible amount of time, especially if you want it done right. Depending on the type of wedding you are looking to have, you may find it difficult to plan it all on your own. Having a wedding planner is like having a personal assistant who is there to do all of the calling, ordering, and looking after details that you may not have time to deal with.
As human beings, we often fall victim to procrastination. In what can be an extremely high-stress situation, there is little room for putting things off. Many women go into the wedding planning process without knowing the first thing about timelines, and that can lead to some preventable disasters down the road. Do not waste another minute worrying about what you don’t have time to do. Get back on track by hiring a wedding planner.

Knowledge
Here’s a novel idea: Wedding planners plan weddings! Have you or your friends and family ever planned a wedding before? I’m going to venture to say the answer is no, and even if the answer is yes, I’m sure it hasn’t been many. So why are you leaving one of the most important days of your life up to amateurs?
Well-known and respected wedding planners have been doing their job successfully for quite some time, so they know where to find the best flowers, the best photographers, and the most original centrepieces. It is their job to listen to your dreams and make them a reality, so why would you settle for anything less? There is very little that a good wedding planner can’t do. Let them be the professionals they were meant to be, and give yourself a chance to enjoy the engagement.

Support
Let’s face it; men are not always the best partners when it comes to a planning wedding. They would rather let you choose the colour combinations, flower arrangements, cake flavours and seating arrangements. After all, this is your wedding, not theirs. Many brides rely on mothers, sisters and best friends to help with the details, but I say you should turn to someone who can provide the ultimate guidance and be completely honest.
Wedding planners are as much there to lend support as they are to take control. Sometimes planning a wedding can seem like an impossible task, but a wedding planner has numerous lists giving him or her instant access to the best of everything, including books full of stunning displays to bring your ideas to life. Go ahead and add another friend to your wedding entourage – after all, it’s true what they say about safety in numbers.

Affordability
Weddings can be an expensive undertaking, and while hiring a wedding planner can seem like a superfluous cost, it could save you money in the long-run. Wedding planners have valuable connections with every central name in the business, which afford them discounts and special advantages that would not be open to just anyone.
They will also work within a budget, so as long as your eyes are not bigger than your wallet, they should be able to give you everything you desire, and perhaps a little more. Also, it is not uncommon for so-called “professionals” such as photographers or deejays to take advantage of unsuspecting brides and grooms. A wedding planner will ensure that you only receive the best.

Attention to Detail
Any event has the potential to look nice, but it is the attention to detail that really gives a special occasion some life. We all know there are certain things that must be covered when planning a wedding. These include finding a dress, choosing colours, picking flowers, selecting locations for the ceremony and reception, and so on. But beyond that, how do you make your wedding memorable?

This is what wedding planners were made for. A vast portion of their job is to take the wedding of your dreams and make it better. Let us!

GREEN

We are nearly ready to launch our new site with the new theme colour of GREEN!

It has always been my favourite colour so was an apt choice.  Green Tree Frogs are my favourite little creature and I love to surround myself with the green of the forest.  I was keen to know what it actually meant, so I turned to google, the source of all knowledge and this is what I found:

Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility.  Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.

Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance.  In heraldry, green indicates growth and hope. Green, as opposed to red, means safety; it is the color of free passage in road traffic.
Yellow-green can indicate sickness, cowardice, discord, and jealousy.

Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection.

Olive green is the traditional color of peace.

Enough of Vintage!!

Posted on: January 2nd, 2012 by n3tB1z No Comments

I have had enough of vintage…barely there decor, mason jars with ribbon, old suitcases and type writers.  It has become so common place that it’s not even original anymore.

I want theatre.. I want drama!

I want opulance…

I want romance that is palpable.

I want elaborate decor in rich hues with reams of satin & rose petals underfoot.  I want Ghost Chairs and star curtains, feathers and fine bone china…

I want elegance, sophistication and extravagance!

I want the room algow with the soft flicker of a thousand candles.

I want crystal everywhere, wedding cakes as tall as me and fairy-tale-cinderella-she-must-be-a- foreign-princess gowns.

I want originality, creativity and never replication.

I want the rich sent of hundreds of flowers to make my guests swoon…

I want entertainment! Acrobats, aerial artists, stilt walkers and masked madames…

I want to create jaw-dropping, never-ever -to-be-forgotten weddings.

If you want the same….call me.
